I want to show you guys and gals, a story I wrote way back in March. It is far too long to fit in one post, so I'll show you the story in three parts. You'll read the ending on Friday. The beginning is not too exciting, but I promise if you can get through today, you'll be very pleased with how the story moves along. Well I hope you enjoy part one!
This story takes place in a galaxy, far from the reaches of
the Milky Way; on a planet called Blue. Blue is relative in size to mars. Over
sixty percent of the planet is uninhabitable by humans. The temperature of the
Northern hemisphere, reaches to below -100 degrees during the summer. On average humans live for about one hundred
and fifty years; there have been accounts of a human living far beyond that.
The oldest ever recorded was 325 years old.
Two Kingdoms that
were once allies, Klondike and Lux are now stuck in a war. Klondike is the most
Northern Kingdom in all the land. They have a very skilled army, but quite
small compared to Lux. The two Kingdoms had fought in many wars together.
Klondike uses Polar bears as chariot pullers and to get through the enemies
first line of defense. Polar Bears are sacred animals in the Kingdom of
Klondike. There are many sanctuaries around Klondike for these majestic beasts.
Humans also live in the sanctuary to watch over the bears.
Every year
the King and Generals of Klondike go around picking out two of the strongest
five year old bears. These bears are trained for five years until they are
battle ready. After fifteen to twenty years of service the bears are sent back,
to their sanctuary to live the remaining years they have left. Since Polar
Bears are treated well, the life expectancy is around fifty years. There are
about 1000 battle ready Polar bears at a time.
This war has
been ongoing for over thirty years. The
war all started because Klondike had found a large deposit of a rare metal
called “Diem”. It was found by two hikers in “The Northern Outskirts” Diem is
the strongest metal in the entire known world. It is a dark red metal. The King
of Lux wanted to get his hands on it. Nothing he offered the King of Klondike
was up to par.
The King of
Lux got fed up and decided he would just take it by force. The deposit was far
from the borders, so The King of Lux thought he would slowly make his way up
there. Since Klondike is surrounded by a
mountain range, it was the only option for Lux. Lux started off by pushing
through with much strength. Just in time, Klondike had forged new weapons out
of “Diem” These weapons were far superior to the Silver weapons, Lux were
using.
The “Diem”
weapons were still no match for the enormous army Lux had. Klondike finally
finished the wall they were building years before the war had started. The wall
was intended to keep the peasants and farmers away from the middle and upper
class citizens. So after a decade of bloodshed,
Lux was stopped by a giant wall. Lux had taken over fifty percent of the land
in Klondike. Klondike was running low on supplies, but they couldn’t do
anything about it. The Kingdom had no hope of gaining the farm land back.
The King of
Klondike was about to give up to Lux. During the yearly reaping of the bears,
something extraordinary happened. A bear
with incredible agility and intelligence was discovered. The King went to the Royal Sanctuary. He had
found one; all he needed was one more. Just as he thought he found the second
one, something amazing happened. A much
smaller bear weighing around 700 pounds walks in front and stands up tall at 7
feet. The King being 6 foot 9 and 475 pounds is close in size.
The king
laughs out right. The king says “Sorry little guy, you won’t be cut out for
such intense training.” The bear lets out a giant roar and socks the King square
in the face. The King falls to the snow; something that not even the toughest
warrior bears had ever been able to accomplish. The King gets up off the ground
with blood dripping down his face. The
King says “Lucky shot, let’s see if you can do that again” He unclasps his
purple cape and it drops to the ground. The King stands in his traditional boxing
stance and starts dancing around the bear. The Bear copies what The King is
doing and socks the King a second time.
The King gets
back up and immediately starts boxing with the bear. The King lands a few
punches on the Bears gut. The Bear lets out an even bigger roar then his first.
He knocks the King down a third time. Something fantastic happens immediately
afterwards. The Bear says “Stay Down this time, King” With a perplexing look on
his face the King stands up and turns to face his right hand man. He says “Did
that? Did that Bear just speak to me?” His right hand man responds “Yes Sir, I
believe he did!” The King says “Hey, where did you learn to speak?”
The Bear says
“I have always been able to understand and talk human. I always go fishing with
a human that lives in this sanctuary. He would talk to me and I’d understand.
He even taught me how to box on his lunch break.” The King says “Where does this human live?”
The Bear says “he lives on the other side of the stream. I’ll show you” The
Bear went on all fours and gingerly walks toward a little log cabin. The King
Follows and knocks on the door. The door slowly opens and a fifty something
male appears. He is about seven feet tall and five hundred pounds. He bows when he recognizes that the person at
his doorstop is the King of Klondike.
The
large male spoke “What can I do for you, your highness?” The King responds “Do you recognize that
Polar Bear?” as he points towards the Bear. The fisherman says “Ya, that’s
Ralph! Hey Ralph!” The Bear runs up to him and starts lightly jabbing the
Fisherman’s right arm. With a puzzled look on his face the King repeats the
name “Ralph?! Why do you call him that?! And did you teach him how to box?”
The
Fisherman says “Ya, Ralph. We give all the Bears nicknames” He pats Ralph on
the head and said “I started calling him Ralph and he liked it…he won’t answer
to anything else now. Yes, I taught him all his moves. He used to get picked
on, so I taught him to use his small size to his advantage. Now none of the
Bears wanna mess with my buddy.” The King replies “Where did you learn how to
box? Those moves Ralph made on me looked eerily familiar.”
The
Fisherman says “Well, that is because my father taught you how to box, Sir.”
The King shocked says “You are the son of Marcus Cole, The Great? I thought he
moved to Brimstone about fifty years ago…no?”
The Fisherman says “Yes that I am! Oh he did. My mother and he moved to
Brimstone to have me. It was my dad’s home nation after all, known for boxing. He started to teach boxing to me when I
turned seven.”
The
King responds “So when did your family move back to Klondike?” The Fisherman replies
“My parents died about forty years ago, when I was nineteen. My dad got me to
the annual boxing championship for the fourth year in a row. Days before I
fought, they were involved in a wolf attack. I vowed to win the match that year
for them. I won the match by knockout in the third round. “
The
King says “Well that is a depressing thing to hear…So you moved here shortly
after? It became dead silent for a few
moments. The Fisherman finally breaks the silence “Months after, still living
in my family home; I wanted to start a journey of my own. I heard that Klondike
was looking for Fishermen. I sold the home and ventured fourth towards the
Great Kingdom of Klondike. A year passed when I finally arrived where the work
was available. Been here ever since” The King responds “Well, you taught Ralph
well. He was the first Bear or Human to knock me down in a fight.”
The
Fisherman lets out an enormous laugh “That is too much!” He looked at Ralph and
winked at him. Ralph put his paw up to his face and covered his eyes. The Fisherman says “Good Job Ralph! You show
The King that you deserve to be in his military!” The King says “Well I
definitely want him fighting by my side. He may just help us get those Lux scum
out of my kingdom! Ok you and Ralph are coming back to the castle to train with
me and my Generals! I need you for war. You know what?! We need all the Bears
we can get! Let’s bring all the young males to train!”
Okay that is thee end of Part One. I hope you enjoyed it enough to come back tomorrow for more! Tomorrow, you will see into The Castle of Klondike. This is the end to yet another post. Peace! When in despair eat a gummy bear!
QOTD(Quote of the Day)
"Life is beautiful, as long as it consumes you. When it is rushing through you, destroying you, life is gorgeous, glorious. It’s when you burn a slow fire and save fuel, that life’s not worth having." -D. H. Lawrence
